Low Down On New Year Clash of Clans Update: Gem Boosts On All Unit Buildings!

Android and iOS title Clash of Clans continues to be a dominant force in the mobile game market, reportedly making over $1 billion in revenue this year, with some estimates putting it as high as $1.8 billion. There’s no sign of its popularity slowing down and there are still updates coming from Supercell now we’re in 2015.

A new update that is available right now allows you to boost the production rate of any unit producing building for just one gem, but get online now to see the benefit as this perk is not expected to last for very long.

So this includes both Elixir and Dark Elixir Pumps, Barracks, Gold Mines, Spell Factories, and Heroes. Any of these can be boosted with just one gem for a limited time only.

If you’re new to Clash of Clans, in order to get Gems you have to chop down trees and bushes (known as gardening), collect rare Gem boxes, or you spend some real world money from within the app and buy them directly. Also if you complete certain achievements you will see a popup of a little female icon. If you tap the icon she will also give you gems. While the gardening method is somewhat randomized, there is the potential to get 6 in one go, so it may be worth the gamble.

After a certain amount of free playing you will most likely hit the proverbial wall where you can’t boost any further without dropping a few bucks on some gems. If you’re considering playing Clash of Clans seriously, then now is the best time to buy some gems as they now obviously go further. Think of their extra boosting power as a discount.

It’s also the perfect time to play the game for the first time as all new players get 500 gems right away. That means you can now advance even quicker with the boost.

The Clash of Clans 1 gem boost is expected to conclude on January 7th, though they may extend it longer.
