Sergio Ramos Congratulates World Cup Champions
Ramos singled out his former and current Real Madrid teammates Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira, the latter who may soon be headed to Aresnal.
“Congratulations bro (@MesutOzil1088) and Khedira for The World Cup champions. Enjoy it ..!”
Germany overcame Argentina by one goal in extra time.
Though Ramos’ side Spain were eliminated in the group stage this time around, four years ago he was celebrating with the illustrious cup in South Africa.
This year was their poorest showing in recent memory, managing to secure only three points in Group B, which featured Netherlands and Chile making it to the Knockout stage, and Australia flying home early with Ramos.
The latest transfer rumors suggest Real Madrid may be going after Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels to join Ramos in defence, though they face a potential bidding war from both Barcelona and Manchester United, who have also shown strong interest.
Last week Ramos was among the Real Madrid players and other football dignitaries who paid their respects to the legendary 88 year old Alfredo di Stefano, who passed away from a heart attack.
“We have lost an icon, an emblem, a big part of this crest of the club,” Ramos said. “He had a very open way with him. I have had some wonderful moments with him, like the day I was first introduced into the club.”
