Google Releases Update that Fixes the Message App Bug
An annoying bug in Google’s SMS app Messages led to the search function no longer working, but th company had it fixed
Some of you might have noticed the issue and if you think about it, it’s pretty ironic: a search engine has a bug with its search function. Apparently, the feature would no longer work. The following tweet was the first to alter the issue:
Hey @Google, thanks for updating the #Pixel operating system so now I can't search my text messages by anything other than the people in the conversation. It was better when I could search the messages for any word in a message. Thought you guys were geniuses?

Thankfully, a fix was recently released and the issue should be a thing of the past now.
Artem saw the tweet and was able to reproduce the bug himself. A Googler responded to the thread and a Messages Help forum post came in and detailed the problem. Just one week after finding out about it, Google managed to roll out an update with a fix: 3.8.043.
This update does, indeed, solve the problem so if you’re having it download the solution form here.
Once you install it, everything should go back to normal.
