Trump is not Backing Down from Building his Campaign Promised Wall
Sarah Huckabee Senders, White House’s press secretary, said that Trump is maintaining his position when it comes to the construction of the border wall
“The President has made no secret that this is a priority for him, and he continues to advocate for it and he’ll continue to make sure that we move forward to secure the border and secure our country,” Sanders told reporters
Sanders also said that the promised wall is “vital to security, the immigration system.”
These comments come right after Trump threated to shut down the government if Congress does not provide funding for building the wall, even though he originally said that Mexico would fund.
However, when asked if Trump is actually going to shut down the government over the wall, Sanders said that Trump is committed to both working with Congress and the construction of the wall.
“Look, I think the President is committed to making sure it happens, and he’s also committed to working with Congress to make sure that we move forward,” she said. “And as I think Speaker Ryan said, it’s not necessary, so maybe that means he’s on board with making sure it happens.”
“President Trump’s multi-billion dollar border wall boondoggle is strongly opposed by Democrats and many Republicans. Democrats will stand fast against the immoral, ineffective border wall and the rest of Republicans’ unacceptable poison pill riders,” said Nancy Pelosi
