Major Planet-Hunting Breakthrough – Important Announcement to be Made by NASA on Thursday
A highly important press conference is organized by NASA for Thursday after its planet-haunting telescope discovered something that will change everything
NASA’s space telescope, Kepler, aims to discover other earths that could support life and its latest discovery is so significant that it brings a huge press conference.
At this moment, there is little information about the announcement that will take place on Thursday. However, taking into consideration that it has its own press conference, it will almost certainly have something to do with exoplanets – Earth-sized worlds that orbit around their own stars, representing our best chance to find alien life.
In addition, the space agency mentioned that this discovery was made with the help of Google artificial intelligence as it is being used to analyse all data sent down by the telescope. By using this technology, NASA hopes that it will be able to pick through potential planets faster and eventually find life-supporting planets sooner.
The Kepler telescope was launched back in 2009 and scientists did not know how many exoplanets were in the universe. It was the start of a beautiful, breath-taking journey. Eventually, in time, it has shown that exoplanets are more common than we thought, even indicating the fact that each star might have its own planet.
The main mission was completed in 2012, but it continued to do more work afterwards. In 2014, the K2 mission started and it looks for more exoplanets while also studying other cosmin phenomena.
Due to the fact that the amount of data coming from the telscope is very large, scientists face challenges when trying to pick through it to find planets that might be interesting. Here’s where the introduction of artificial intelligence is intended to help by allowing computers to do some of the work.
