This week, Republican Joe Barton said that the US Capitol Police have started an investigation into how a sexually explicit photo of him was made available online

At the same time, an anonymous woman has decided to speak up and told that Barton sent her lewd messages, as well as videos and images during a relationship that spanned many years, starting from 2011.

The woman also said that she has discovered that Barton was involved with another woman. Moreover, she began talking to him and provided a recording in which the Republican threatened to report her to the Capitol Police if she decided to release the materials.

She also mentioned that she did not publish the explicit image, even though it is not clear if she willingly provided it to someone else instead.

Barton admitted that he had warned the the woman that he might be seeking help from the police to make sure that she is not behind the exposure of the private photos, and also said that he believes that he is a victim of a crime from this week’s exposure of the material.

“While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women,” Barton, who is twice-divorced, said in a statement. “Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down.”
